WPP buys Glover Park Group

Glover Park Group announced Tuesday that it had been acquired by WPP, the UK communications company.

Glover Park has grown from its four founding members to 140 people, with offices in Washington, New York, Los Angeles and Boulder.

Major clients include Exelon, Kellogg, Disney and DuPont.

The firm was started in 2001 by Carter Eskew, Mike Feldman, Joe Lockhart and Chip Smith.

Eskew was chief strategist for the 2000 Gore presidential campaign. Feldman was Gore’s adviser and traveling chief of staff during the Clinton administration. Smith, Glover Park’s chief executive officer, previously worked with MCI and Shrum, Devine & Donilon.

Lockhart left the firm in June to become a vice president at Facebook.

One of the firm’s better-known managing directors is Dee Dee Myers, former White House press secretary.

WPP is a communications giant, with billings of $66 billion. Its companies include Young & Rubicam, Hill & Knowlton, Ogilvy & Mather, Prime Policy Group and Quinn Gillspie.
